I was hired by the PeaceTech Exchange (PTX), on behalf of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), to train Community Service Organizations (CSO) and public sector managers in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, on using smartphones to collect data using Kobo Toolbox and Open Data Kit.
Fellow trainers included Heath Morrison, Tarik Nesh-Nash, and Evanna Hu. The event was put together by Derek (Gildea) Caelin and Tim Receveur from PTX, in collaboration with Sanad.
Needless to add, the highlight of the trip was not the trainings, or meeting other experts, but interacting with locals, learning about Kurds, exploring Sulaymaniyah, and staying at the Titanic. Of course, flying to Iraq from the US, and back, had to memorable…
